Best Food Mixers

Are you looking for the best food mixer for your home?  There is such a wide variety of sizes, shapes and types of food mixers available on the market, ranging in price and produced by a number of manufacturers that it may be difficult to sift through all the rest to find the perfect mixer for your needs.

The two most basic categories that the best food mixers are divided into are those for professional (aka "industrial") use versus the ones designed for use in the home. That isn't to say that an individual home cook won't prefer an industrial grade kitchen mixer (or vice versa) but usually, professional grade kitchen mixers are significantly more substantial; they are often considerably larger and heavier, and may come with more complicated specifications; whereas home mixers are often smaller (and less expensive!).

There are standing mixers that work basically on their own. One of the most popular standing mixers is the KitchenAid Stand Mixer, which comes in eight models starting at around $300 and ranging from a model for the most recreational baker to one for the hardcore culinary pro; manufacturers of similar mixers include Sunbeam (about $99-$160), and Hamilton Beach (about $30 to under $200). Handheld mixers (or egg beaters) take more elbow grease in that you can't walk away and leave them working, but they take up less space and are generally less expensive: KitchenAid's handheld mixers range in price from around $40-$60, Black and Decker offers one of the best food mixers ranging from about $18-$27, and Hamilton Beach, around $18-$30.

Once you have found your actual mixer, there may be plenty of other options for that model that may make the investment all the more worth it...and we don't just mean the rainbow of color choices that is often available. Some mixers are linked to lines of beaters, whisks and dough hooks that are specifically designed to attach to your machine, in place of the beaters that came with it. It is surprisingly common for there to be a rebate included when you buy your mixer for these extra attachments, so be sure to ask your salesperson, and check the box before throwing it away. Rebate or no rebate, chances are good that a variety of mixer attachments are still available that works for your mixer, and many of them have a specific function in the world of culinary endeavors.

A mixer is an invaluable kitchen gadget, but it can be a bit of an investment, so worthwhile as this investment is, it is especially important make sure you find the perfect mixer to suit your needs.
